The EdVenture Group, Inc., is expanding its STEM innovation programming during the 2021-2022 school year in Southwestern Pennsylvania and rural West Virginia through the generosity of the EQT Foundation and American Water Company. Funding will expand The EdVenture Group’s STEM Days program to students in Grades 3-6 in Summers County, West Virginia, and pilot innovation projects in five Greene County, Pennsylvania school districts.

The STEM Days program provides students hands-on experiences in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. Students engage in lessons on computer science and robotics, design thinking and creativity, STEM careers, and augmented and virtual reality. The program was made possible through funding from the EQT Foundation and has been expanded to West Virginia through support from the First Energy Foundation for Roane County and American Water for Summers County. STEM Days can be offered in-person for students or virtually for families via online lessons.

“[The program] was a fantastic opportunity for families to participate in engaging, authentic, real-world educational activities in the realm of STEM education,” said Principal Marc Berry of Carmichaels Elementary Center.

As STEM Days continues to grow, The EdVenture Group is helping build a connected network of STEM-focused school districts within Southwestern Pennsylvania. The organization has received an additional $20,800 from the EQT Foundation to support innovation projects designed to test new, novel approaches to education. The EdVenture Group will work with participating school districts to design, pilot, and scale these efforts throughout the 2021-2022 academic year.

“We strive to identify and support opportunities that impact the communities we serve in meaningful ways,” said Ellen Rossi, President of the EQT Foundation. “It is our hope that the continuation and expansion of the STEM Days program throughout Greene County, PA will empower our elementary students to consider further studies in STEM programs as they enter middle and high school.”

The EdVenture Group is a national non-profit organization committed to creating customized solutions to educational challenges through innovation consulting and tailored professional development that reimagines what education can be.
